Everything you need to know about the new LOTM Points system

When we announced Faraway's acquisition of the Legends of the Mara NFT collections from Yuga Labs, we introduced the concept of Points for some of our new collections.
Points are available in the metadata of NFTs from the following collections:
Points are also awarded to HV-MTLs, but the calculation system is completely different from LOTM Points. HV-MTL Points will be covered in a separate guide.
There are 2 classes of LOTM points:
Base Points
Extra Points
The combination of these point classes determines the Total Points of an item in the collections above. Total Points is a metadata field that is visible on each NFT in the collections above.
The following collections have Base Points:
Kodamara
Otherside Koda
Otherside Mara are not eligible for Base Points, but they are eligible for Extra Points.
Base Points are determined by existing metadata, and are fixed, meaning that Base Points cannot be increased or decreased over time. Metadata that contributes to Base Point quantity includes:
For Koda:
Mega (Y/N)
Weapon (Y/N)
Ability 1
Ability 2
For Kodamara:
Origin Role
Origin Rarity
Catalyst Type
Sediment Aura
To determine how many LOTM Base Points your Kodamara or Koda has, check out this community-made LOTM Base Point Calculator, created by Frostyz!
Unlike Base Points, Extra Points are not static and can increase over time. Extra Points are earned from games and experiences in the Faraway ecosystem, like Dookey Dash: Unclogged, Legends of the Mara: Rebirth, and Serum City.
The below collections are eligible for Extra Points:
Kodamara
Otherside Mara
Otherside Koda are not eligible for Extra Points. This is due to a number of reasons, with the main one being that Faraway does not own the Otherside Koda collection, which makes it difficult to update/control metadata for items in that collection. Faraway needs to be able to add, update and remove metadata fields seamlessly, and any delays or implementation mistakes resulting from not having direct access to those collections could be economy breaking.
When you play games (e.g. Legends of the Mara: Rebirth), you can win both Extra Points and Point Modifiers. Extra Points can be applied directly to any Kodamara or Mara. Point Modifiers apply a multiplier to your Kodamara Base Points, with the new amount being applied as Extra Points.
Please note that Point Modifiers can't be used on Mara since Mara do not have Base Points. Point Modifiers only apply to Kodamara.
Example: You unlock an Uncommon Point Multiplier (10%), and you choose to apply that Point Modifier to a Kodamara with 1,000 Base Points. The 10% is calculated with the Base Point amount of the Kodamara (1,000), resulting in 100 new Extra Points being added to that Kodamara.
Extra Points can be assigned to your Kodamara and Maras at lotm.gg.
There is a maximum amount of LOTM Extra Points that can be applied to a Kodamara or Mara NFT. Every Kodamara NFT in the Kodamara collection shares the same Extra Points Cap per Ascension level. Similarly, every Mara NFT in the Otherside Mara collection, shares the same Extra Points Cap per Ascension level.
It is important to note that each NFT's Extra Points Cap can be increased through a process called Ascension.
Note: Ascension Materials are not live yet, but we will add the link to the Ascension Material Collection in the Faraway Shop once it's available (these Ascension Materials are tradeable NFTs).
Mara, Kodamara, or King Kodamara can be “Ascended” in order to increase their Extra Points Cap.
Currently, there are 15 Ascension levels, with the Extra Points Cap increasing at each level, but there are more benefits to Ascension than just increasing Extra Points Cap. For example, Ascended Kodamara will unlock an all new third LOTM ability at level 3 (more info on that coming soon).
Don’t worry if you’ve ascended a Mara and want to fuse it into a Kodamara – the Ascension Level, Extra Points Cap and Extra Points will transfer over to the newly minted Kodamara.
In order to ascend your Mara, Kodamara or King Kodamara, you’ll need a specific recipe of Ascension Materials. You’ll also need to pay for the Ascension process in Myst. Myst and Ascension Materials can be earned by playing Legends of the Mara, and from activations in other games in the Faraway ecosystem.
Ascension Materials are mintable and come in 5 types. Keep in mind that Ascension Materials are burned when they are applied to the selected Kodamara or Mara to increase their Ascension level. While some Ascension levels/recipes will be available immediately, more Ascension levels and their respective recipes and in game benefits will be released over time based on new game experiences and activations in the Faraway ecosystem.
Remember that there will be 2 Ascension Material airdrops before Season 4, details about those can be found below.
For every wallet containing at least 1,000 Sediment, a player will be able to go to the LOTM Points Portal and claim an amount of Ascension Material based on their Sediment ownership. In addition to Ascension Material, the Top 99 wallets holding Sediment will receives at least one Wish, which may be used to activate the Oda Lamp.
Ascension Material can now be claimed on a rolling basis with no required snapshot when the LOTM Points Portal is fully released. The only condition to claim Ascension Material is that it must be minted into your Faraway Wallet (see the guide here) - so make sure to create your Faraway Wallet before claiming your Ascension Material from the LOTM Points Portal. All minting fees are sponsored and cost zero gas (batch minting will be available)
After claiming your Ascension Material, all Sediment owned will be wiped from your wallet.
